NDGA Member John Zastowney has been invited to do an exhibit (free to the public), which will show 250 pieces of Lancaster glass at the Salt Lake City Public Library from Sunday, December 11, 2011 through February. The exhibit will feature 250 pieces from his collection in 42 niches. Also, John will be doing a lecture on Saturday, January 21, 2012 on the collection.
Below you will see some photographs of the glass. All that is pictured will be on display although these are not the actual display photos. In addition to Lancaster Glass, there will be a display of Monongah stems, Morgantown Monroe stems in Ritz Blue and Spanish Red, green Windsor and Buttons & Bows both by Jeannette.
The Salt Lake City Public Library (www.slcpl.lib.ut.us) won’t be advertising it on their site until December 1st or just after Thanksgiving, but NDGA members are welcomed to bookmark the site for the upcoming event.
John is the author of a book on Lancaster glass, and has given permission for the NDGA to reproduce an article on Lancaster which he originally wrote in 2008.
The NDGA would like to encourage all members to emulate John and offer to display their glass in museums and public libraries - anywhere that will allow American-made glassware to be featured for the public to see. And the NDGA would like to thank John for sharing his collection with all of us.
